Ms. Montgomery is part of a local group called Conscious Homesteaders of Madison County (CHMC). This is a community Facebook page for any persons in Madison County interested in homesteading and farming. Lindsay explains how the group is helpful for newcomers in the county to connect with the locals and obtain advice and support for farming and handling various situations that may arise with animals or crops. Ms. Montgomery expressed how useful the group was in her own efforts as she learned to manage the terrain of the area and establish a farm of her own in the area.
